Many engineering and metal manufacturing processes include some form of working that can lead to surface conditions that interfere with the next part of the process. This could be temporary storage, further machining, chemical treatment, final polishing or painting.
The neutral cleaner products are formulated principally to render the work fit for the next stage. Often applied in single stage enclosed washing cabinets, the benefits of neutral cleaners regularly include no rinsing and - in the case of ferrous metals - a temporary corrosion-inhibiting surface, as well as the capability of discharge to drain without the need for neutralisation. Oils removed are readily separated, as these cleaners are non-emulsifying.
