Steelwork: The increased likelihood of corrosion in humid industrial regions, compared to rural or urban environments, should be borne in mind when painting steelwork. For optimum performance of coating systems and effective protection of iron and steel surfaces.
Floor Paints: Information in this section concerns the use of one pack urethane based coatings for application to new concrete and wooden floors and to existing floors where refurbishment or restoration is required. The attractiveness and wide-spread use of these floor paints, result from a combination of benefits and properties. These include ease of use, high gloss, abrasion resistance, flexibility, toughness and chemical resistance. Comprehensive details of uses and applications can be found in the Floor Paint Product Information Guide.
Machinery Paints: In factories and manufacturing environments, the routine maintenance of plant and machinery invariably includes some form of painting, in order to offer protection and improve appearance.
Abrasion resistant coatings are also likely to be required for hand rails, safety guards, bins and storage racks. Resistance to prolonged contact with various oils, grease and paraffin, as well as other chemicals, is also usually a prerequisite of the paint system employed.
Masonry Coatings: These can be applied to a wide range of exterior surfaces, including concrete block and brick constructions (especially when rendered) with a view to hiding surface defects and improving appearance.
The main prerequisites for good performance are thorough surface preparation and a thick film, as well as the correct choice of coating. Textured finishes are the most widely used exterior wall coatings, but the range includes smooth water based products and a Pliolite® resin based system designed to cope with the most severe weather conditions.
* All work should be carried out in accordance with BS 6150: Code of Practice for Painting of buildings
Woodwork: The basic properties of the paint system and the nature and design of the wooden components being painted, strongly influence the service performance of the finished substrate. The quality of application and the condition of the surface to be coated are also most important, and particular attention should be paid to the moisture content of the timber.
Interior Wall Coatings: Although colour and appearance are usually prime considerations when choosing a paint system, the surface characteristics of the wall must be taken into account, as should temperature, humidity and ventilation during application. The most important factor for satisfactory painting is the dryness of the wall, and with new plaster or masonry, the finish should be such as to allow the surface to complete the drying out process.
Special Purpose Products: The special purpose products in this category, have been selected for a range of different decorative and maintenance applications, featuring the Irflok brush and roller applied Fleck Coating System.
