In a country where the average employee will change employer every five years, we celebrate our heritage and the experience that our staff bring to the table. Many of our dedicated employees have spent much of their working lives with us; over 20% of our team have been passing their expertise on to the business for more than twenty years.
Gary Jones, our longest serving member of the team at 44 years, was one of many youngsters who completed a City and Guilds Apprenticeship in Paint. For Gary the sense of teamwork at Trimite has been instrumental to his long career, “The people I have worked with over the years have been fabulous, they are the heart of Trimite.”
This team effort resonates throughout our workforce. Karen Stokes started at Trimite as a school-leaver over 30 years ago and explains, “I have made lots of friends and there is a great sense of community amongst us. There is camaraderie and we all pull together for the common goal. A highlight for me was being involved in the move to Hayes from the Uxbridge site; the improvements mean that now my colleagues on the factory floor have cleaner and brighter spaces to work in.”
It’s not just the interactions between staff that motivate the team as Malcolm Clark, Defence Coatings Sales Manager explains, “We have a strong brand and many long-standing relationships with our clients.” Malcolm is in his 38th year with Trimite and was the first employee to take part in a management trainee programme.
Another member of our technical team to have learned his trade through the City and Guilds Apprenticeship in Paint is Philip Hall, Group Technical Manager. Philip has been with Trimite for 41 years and is responsible for overseeing the formulations, product development, quality control and laboratories. Philip has been instrumental in the development of our coatings, when asked what he is most proud of during his career with Trimite he said, “It has to be the quality, usability and consistency of the products we develop.”
